How to Create a QR Code (Free, and Private)
QR codes turn a link, a Wi-Fi password, or a note into something anyone can scan with a phone camera. Making one takes seconds and needs no account. Here is how — and how to make sure it actually scans reliably.

QR Code Generator
Step by step
- Open the generatorGo to the QR Code Generator — it runs in your browser, no install or sign-up.
- Enter your link or textType or paste a URL, text, or any data. The code updates live as you type.
- Style it (optional)Pick a size, colors, margin, and error-correction level to match your design.
- DownloadSave a PNG for quick use, or an SVG that stays crisp at any size for print.
Make sure it scans
Keep strong contrast — a dark code on a light background scans best; avoid light-on-dark or low-contrast color pairs. Leave the quiet-zone margin around the code (don’t crop it tight), and if you plan to place a logo in the middle, raise the error-correction level so the code still reads.
PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for quick sharing on screens and social posts. Use SVG when you need it to stay sharp at large sizes — posters, packaging, signage — because it is vector-based and scales without pixelation.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes — completely free, no sign-up, no watermark, and no tracking on the code.
Is my data private?
Yes — the QR code is generated entirely in your browser; your link or text is never sent to a server.
Will the QR code expire?
No — the codes are static, so they encode your data directly and never expire or stop working.
